Hi, I'm Brett
"I view therapy as a vehicle for healing and transformation built on equal parts compassion and evidence-based methodology. In therapy, we can slow down, pay attention, understand, make contact, and transform our relationship to ourselves, our world, and our suffering. My role in this process is to meet you where you are, understand your needs, goals, and predicaments, and create a safe yet challenging environment for you to change and grow on your terms."
My Counseling Story
I am a therapist based on my love for people, my fascination with psychology, and a commitment toward reducing suffering in the world. I am largely inspired by my own experiences in therapy as a teen and young adult, experiences with psychedelics, and my Soto Zen Buddhist practice of the past 20 years. I am heavily influenced and guided by the teachings and example of Ram Dass, whom I lived with and worked for as a caretaker in 2006. I attended Naropa University in Boulder, CO both for my undergraduate education as well as in pursuit of my master’s in mental health counseling. Prior to practicing at Ebbs and Flows Counseling, I have worked in an IOP setting for disordered eating, community mental health, and other private practice settings. I am originally from California but have called the seacoast area of New Hampshire home since 2022 where I live with my wife, 2 kids, and 2 cats.
