Hi, I'm Hazel

"I think therapy can be wonderful because it gives people a space to feel seen, heard, and supported without judgment. It can help people better understand themselves, work through challenges, and build skills to handle life with more confidence and balance. Therapy also reminds people that they do not have to go through difficult experiences alone and that growth and change are possible."

My Counseling Story

My path toward therapy began with a strong interest in understanding people and supporting them through difficult and meaningful moments in their lives. Early in my career, I worked in a school setting, where I saw firsthand how emotional, social, and environmental factors can shape a child or adolescent’s experience and well-being. From there, I worked in a homeless shelter, which deepened my understanding of the impact of instability, stress, and unmet needs, as well as the importance of meeting people with compassion wherever they are in life.

I later moved into crisis work at a police department, where I supported individuals and families during some of their most vulnerable and high-stress moments. This work strengthened my ability to stay grounded in intense situations and reinforced the importance of calm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental support. I then continued this work in community mental health, where I had the opportunity to provide ongoing care and support to individuals navigating a wide range of emotional, relational, and life challenges.

Across each of these experiences, I became increasingly drawn to therapy and the importance of creating a space where people feel safe, seen, and understood. I also developed a strong interest in the way meaningful connection and supportive relationships can foster growth and resilience. In the future, I hope to expand my work into equine-assisted therapy, combining my passion for mental health with the grounding and healing connection that can come from working with animals and nature.

I was especially drawn to Ebbs & Flows because of its warm, client-centered approach and its emphasis on connection and individualized care. I value being part of a team that prioritizes empathy, collaboration, and meeting clients where they are, while also supporting meaningful growth and change.

Specialty Areas

I especially enjoy working with clients who feel emotionally overwhelmed, stuck in difficult patterns, or unsure how to manage intense emotions, stress, or relationships. Using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), I help clients build practical skills to better understand and regulate emotions, cope with distress, improve communication, and create a greater sense of balance in their daily lives. My approach to DBT is supportive, collaborative, and individualized. I aim to create a space where clients feel safe exploring challenges while also learning skills that can help them feel more grounded, confident, and connected to themselves and others.
