Hi, I'm Sophia
"Therapy, to me, is a space where someone can show up exactly as they are in that moment, without judgment, and be met with acceptance, compassion, and understanding. It is an opportunity to explore one’s life in a meaningful and honest way alongside someone trained to support, guide, and gently challenge unhelpful beliefs about oneself or the world. Therapy is not about “fixing” someone, but about creating insight, growth, resilience, and the ability to live a more authentic, meaningful, and fulfilling life."
My Counseling Story
I was drawn to the therapy space through my own experiences during adolescence, particularly struggles with anxiety and feelings of “not being good enough.” As a competitive student-athlete, I carried many of those emotions quietly and internally. Therapy became the one place where I felt I could fully exhale, be myself, and openly share what I was experiencing without fear of judgment. I became fascinated by the impact of having a space that felt both safe and deeply supportive.
During my undergraduate studies at Middlebury College, I found myself increasingly drawn to Psychology, Sociology, and Global Health because I wanted to better understand people, relationships, and why we think and behave the way we do.
After graduating, I temporarily put my plans to become a therapist on hold and pursued a career in marketing and advertising, believing it might offer another lens into understanding the human experience. However, throughout my five years in that field, I continually felt pulled back toward therapy and the meaningful connection it provides. Eventually, I decided to fully pursue that passion and earned my Master of Social Work from The Ohio State University. When I moved to New Hampshire, Ebbs and Flows Counseling felt like an incredibly natural fit because of its commitment to providing ethical, compassionate, and evidence-based treatment to a diverse range of clients.
